Jacki

Isn't it amazing when you haven't talked to somebody for about 10 years or so and you can pick up right where you left off?
Well that happened to me Friday night. I recently decided to look up my best friend from high school this past week and we made contact with one another. It was as if we had never missed a beat between us.
Hopefully another 10 years doesn't pass again.

Where have I been?

Wow! Where did the holidays go?
Since my last posting, I lost both of my grandpa's on the same day with in 2 1/2hrs of each other.
One of them, I was present to watch him leave this world as we know it and pray with him too.
Very special moment.
Psychology isn't going well though, there have been other family situations going on as well and it has been difficult to study. I know our Lord is in control, but it still has been difficult to focus and keep up with my 4.0 grade average. I have a paper due tomorrow, which is thankfully done but also a test tomorrow as well and a final on Thurs. On that note, I will sign off and get to studying.
Just wanted to let you know whoever out in cyberworld is noticing, I'm still around.

15 Years ago today my handsome sons came into the world today, where has the time gone?
They are growing into fine young men of God and I pray that their steps are for his plans and purposes. That they will be leaders of people into His kingdom. May the fruit of the Spirit grow in them daily. Lord, give them a vision for their life when setting goals for the future and a sense of purpose about what You've called them to do. In Jesus' name I pray that they will not doubt or stray from the path You have for them all the days of their lives.

Beloved Grandpa

Received a call earlier today that my Grandpa won't make it through the night. He lives in California and haven't seen him for a few years. I have been very blessed to have all four of my grandparents to be alive up to this point in my life. Very difficult for me to know that I am slowly starting to lose them. I have comfort in knowing that he will be at peace and happy to know that I will one day see him again.
Love you Grandpa

Post Thanksgiving

Well, this was my first Thanksgiving in several years where I didn't host the big dinner event. With me going back to school, my aunt took pity on me and offered to host Thanksgiving this year. I have to admit, I was a little reluctant to give up hosting, but was greatful not to have to worry about deep cleaning my home and having to do most of the cooking, since I took my final the Tuesday before Thanksgiving.
I am thankful for family and friends, a roof over my family and a working vehicle. It will be the little things that matter this year and not what I can't give my family this holiday season with no income coming in on my part this year. Things will be tight and may have to face the music to get a job after the holidays, but maybe my family will truly discover how truly blessed they really are and ponder what Christmas is really all about.

The Architect

I saw a movie yesterday in my compostition class called : The Architect. It was about a man named Nathaniel Kahn who was fervently trying to find out about his world famous architect father, Louis Kahn and do a documentary on him. I found it to be a very sesitive story with Nathaniel desperately trying to get to know his father even though he had already passed on. I was encouraged by his research, because some leads ended up being a dead end, but he never gave up, even when some of the research or stories about his father weren't that encouraging by the mistresses, including his own mother. You did capture though, how fervent his own father was with his own projects when it came to his buildings.

My Passion

So, you may be wondering how did I come to the conclusion as to what I wanted to study in school. Well, actually back in high school, I was in a regional occupational program and received my certificate in Medical Assisting. At that time though, the demand wasn't as great as it is now and wasn't able to get into the field. So my life took a different course, I was in and out of school and taking random courses, was kind of lost...Met the love of my life while working at the Olive Garden and got married 14 months later, been married 16 years and 4 kids later.
Back in the recesses of my mind, I knew that I still wanted to be a nurse and would get back to school when all my kids were in school. Four years ago that was my initial plan. I had acutally contacted a school and was getting ready to get my foot in the door and found out that I was pregnant. Oops! Now was not the time to go back to school for me.
Four years later, our daughter is in preschool 2 days a week and is cared for by my wonderful in-laws. They have been such a blessing and very supportive of my decision.
